The Work, Interaction and Technology Research Centre at King’s College London is a centre of excellence in video-based field studies that illuminate the ways in which workplace activities are accomplished through socially organised interactions involving vocal, bodily and material actions. This paper provides a case study of analysis undertaken as part of a recent video-based study of optometry. It describes the processes through which data collection, analysis and dissemination were conducted. In doing so it demonstrates the methodological, conceptual and practical benefits of this kind of approach.
